ACTS 1:1-14 - Lesson One

1. In verse 1, the author references his former book and Theophilus.
a) What book would this be?

b) Who was Theophilus?

2. From the gospel, list the many convincing proofs that showed that Jesus was alive.

3. Verse 4 says that while He was eating with them on one occasion, He gave them a command. Can you find Scripture references where this might have happened?

4. What do you think was the men's motives for asking Jesus, in verse 6 "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the Kingdom to Israel?"

5. Was Lord's answer in verse 7 blunt and harsh with them? 

Do you think that the men's question to Jesus was appropriate?

6. After reading verse 8-11, list a possible command for all believers, and also list some promises.

7. Give the significance of their returning to Jerusalem. What Scriptural command were they following?

8. Write down your thoughts on who returned to Jerusalem, and the difference in numbers compared to verse 15 (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty present at that time).

9. Compare Luke 24:49 with the verse in Act 1. The Disciples were being obedient to the Lord's command. Question! How obedient are we in doing what the Lord wants us to do?

10. Made some applications from this section of Scripture.
