Acts 2:1-13
Read Acts chapter 2.
1) Read the following passages: Ex. 23:14-17, 34:22-24; Lev. 23:15-21; Deut. 16:9-17. What is happening in Jerusalem at this time?
2) Do the Old Testament passages relate to what happened on Pentecost in the book of Acts?
3) Did the Apostles have reason to expect something unusual to happen?
4) In verses 2-4 there are signs of God's presence that were seen and heard. What would those be?
5) Can you find some passages related to these signs?
a) Fire - (Exodus)
b) Wind - (Ezekiel and John)
6) How can the presence of the Holy Spirit be seen and heard today?
7) Verse 4 says that they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Is there a difference between being "filled" and being "baptized" in the Spirit?
8) Should we pray continually to be filled with the Holy Spirit?
9) How many nations are listed in verses 9-11?
10) Which verses in our study explain what "other tongues" mean?
b) Is there any doubt to its meaning?
11) The Scriptures read that these devout men were amazed and perplexed. Why?
12) Is there anything you can say people would see or hear about you that would cause them to be amazed or perplexed?
