Lesson Thirty
Acts 16:20-40
1. Speculate on why it was Paul and Silas who were dragged into
the market place?
2. Would you say that this bordered on anti-Semitism, and does this type of
prejudice go on today?
3. Why were Paul and Silas so troubling to their city?
4. In verse 21, were the accusations made against Paul and Silas accurate?
5. After being thrown into prison, in verse 25 they were found praying and
singing hymns. What would your reactions be if you were beaten and thrown into
prison?
6. What are some of your thoughts on: (a) Paul and Silas' reaction to the
earthquake.
(b) the jailer's reaction.
7. In verse 30 the jailer asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" What do you
think was going through his mind at this time?
8. Comment on Paul's answer to the jailer's question.
9. What are your thoughts on verses 35-39 when (a) the officers wanted to let
Paul and Silas go?
(b) Paul's words to them?
10. Verse 40 says: "They got out of prison and spent some time with the brethren
encouraging them." In what ways could they encourage them?
11. How can that be a lesson for us today, to encourage someone in the Lord?
