John 2:12-25 - Week Five
1. Verse 12 says: "After this Jesus went down to
Capernaum with his Mother and brothers and his disciples." What do you find
significant in this and why?
2. Read John 2:13-25 and compare with Psalm 69:9 and Malachi
3:1-3. In what ways were the Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in the John
passage?
3. Read the accounts of the crucifixion of Jesus from the
other gospels. How did the enemies of Jesus twist His words in the passages to
work against Him? Give chapters and verses.
4. (a) If the Spiritual leaders and the Jews had been truly
honest, would they have needed more miracles to confirm the Lords authority
to cleanse the Temple and the rightness of His actions?
(b) Why does the fact that they asked for a sign show their
unbelief and rebellion against Him?
c) In what way can we be guilty of falling into the same
attitude today?
5. (a) Read verses 23-25. What was wrong with the faith of
the people mentioned here, which caused Jesus not to "trust" Himself
to them?
(b) In what ways is this kind of superficial
"faith" evident today?
6. Make several applications in the form of questions that
you may apply to your own life?
7. Challenge: Memorize a passage/s from this section this
week and say the verse to someone.
