Different Isaiah chapter 6 it open just with two Scriptures this morning. First one on the Old Testament when the new is as six verses one through three the year that King is iodide I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up in the trainer's room filled the temple about instant the Seraphim each had six wings to he covered his face with two recovered his feet in width to the flu and one called to another instead holy holy holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of his glory in Revelation chapter 4 and verse eight once again depicting are telling us of creatures in heaven who are engaged in worshiping God, I tells us that the four living creatures each of them with six wings all full of eyes all around and within a day and night they never cease to say, holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. Of course, you heard what unites these passages since the repetition of holy holy holy Isaiah sees the holy God of heaven for who he is and he is suddenly made dramatically aware of how sinful idiocies uncomfortably aware of it as the passage goes on to speak about, filthy man among filthy people in the book of Revelation. We find an angelic host of heaven praising God for his holiness and we see is holiness and if we praise him for it. And if in beholding it has an effect upon us that we see ourselves more clearly more honestly then the time gazing is well spent because they were going to look at the most stunning and glorious thing that can be said about God that he is holy this spring intentionally from the fact that Kevin left us at first John 15 last week. He's doing expositions of first John, I dissuaded to see last week of the 100 decide what to teach on this week based on where he leaves us and what it suggests and stopped at first on 15 which mentioned God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. And by that point I result will teach on the holiness of God next Sunday for this one week that he's way ask you for starters as we open thoughtfully consider this that has this ever occurred to you to thoughtfully consider the statement God is light and in him there is no darkness at all obvious intentional contrast why is that illustration chosen why would what about God's holiness would make John decide I will speak of it in terms of light and not darkness, light, as opposed the presence of light as opposed to the absence of darkness white shoes that what about light depicts daddy holiness. Any thoughts on that as we begin it's one of the things ahead for sure. Right is an exposure like to reveal her nothing is hidden to dispel the darkness gifts. Further on the same 20 yes so metal exposes sin, but it is in itself glorious know what an abundance of light were on by the glory of active if is a powerful shine you revolve in the presence of a situation ties were light was so powerful that we weren't really concerned about what was exposing the too much so so bright the house dressed as good know it conceals its openly seen nothing needs concealing like nothing Nothing can be concealed with light the glory of God has nothing to be ashamed of our embarrassed in license as well. Enlightenment. T he displays truth so all of these are some of the ways in which I think light is it an act illustration of holiness and we think about the first created thing what it doesn't say first that there be light. Why is that now, as if to say, first let, let all things that follow let everything else that I'm about to create become manifest my glory holiness is the greatest thing you know holiness is greater than grace because holiness is what move grace to act without his commitment holiness God would never sought out or devised a solution the man's sinfulness. It wouldn't have mattered if righteousness didn't matter to him first and so holiness devise the idea of grace to dispel the judgment that are Sanhedrin for us were told investments in 13 of the greatest of things love actually think that that pertains to our character in our relationship with one another. I would I would venture to say that has concerns God holiness is greater than love. Because if someone loves and is unholy you might not necessarily benefit much from that love their love could be a very stupidly could be very wrong inappropriately and I have affectionately might want to do something good for you without righteousness love could go awry holiness is foremost it was a topic that any Bible teacher good question is very right to speak about its mascots holiness because when we think about holiness deeply we are trying to come as close as we can do something which is as far from us as we possibly could have anything be done holy try to explain the holiness of God, nothing else in Scripture spoken of with the solemnity the distance you don't find passages that safe in honor to God. He's wise wise wise or powerful, powerful, powerful, but you do find that emphasis on holy holy holy Stephen Charnock, who wrote the book the attributes of God. Students are not great the attributes of God he made the statement power is God's arm omniscience is I mercy his bowels lovely word that we don't use much anymore in this regard and compassion, and that your King James Richard got King James you know eternity is duration but holiness is his beauty
