To promote church ministry

  1. Think deeply
  2. Gather Faithfully

If you would turn within your Bibles to Hebrews chapter 10 Hebrews 10 and this morning we plan to look at verses 24 and 25 as you know we have been looking at now the section that the author has where we came to a turning point in the letter.  So from 112 1018 he’s been having us consider Jesus, and then now at 1019 going forward.  He has us considering our hype are priestly ministry as believer priests and so will ask you is what kind of priest are you if you are believer in Jesus Christ and you are a priest to what kind of priest are you hands off priest, you know it in this day of individualism and all that some of us think in terms of you know I shouldn’t get involved in other people’s business.  So all mind my own business so we are in a hands off priest and all gear to evolve all prayed that I’m not really going to know interact with people and get into their life maybe you’re hands-on priest.  Maybe you’re someone who does get involved in people’s lives.  While the Lord is pleased with that he thought about this that you also to be a pondering priest or you may prefer the term a pensive priest in other words, we are called is priests to be deep thinkers.  Now, don’t fret.  And I’m not suggesting that we need become philosophers is for the most people.  That’s not a pleasant thought we we learned back in chapter 3 verse one that we are to think deeply this is something we should do regularly to think deeply on Jesus the apostle and high priest of our confession and now even use the same word to tell us that we need to think deeply about someone else or some ones that is one another.  You see in a few thought about this we are responsible each of us for each other’s too often think about how I need to work on my ministry.  I need to hone it perfect it.  That’s good we don’t think in terms of I need to help you bring proved to better your ministry and you need to help me and you need to help each other improve each other’s ministry we are responsible for each other’s ministry is something we don’t give enough thought maybe we’ve never thought of it that way are priestly ministry is one another ministry you see it is something that we do together.  It’s not that now there’s always believer priest.  Now go out and do their own little thing.  Now we do this corporately we minister corporately we help each other together in the way to do that is to babies all of this and careful thought because I don’t automatically know how to help you in your ministry you don’t automatically know how to help in my ministry.  We have to give it a lot of thought careful thought as to how we can help each other in our ministries.  Now what I like us to do is to read the passage this the initial passages he’s come into this new section and as we read on the about those three exhortations that he gives us.  I want you to watch for that trilogy of graces faith, hope and love.  So follow along with me as I read and watch for those they will be accompanied are they will accompany the three exhortations so Hebrews chapter 10, verse 19, since therefore, brethren we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus by a new and living way which he inaugurated for us through the veil that is his flesh.  And since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful and let us consider how to stimulate stimulate one another to love and good deeds not forsaking our own assembling together as is the habit of some but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the day drawing near you did you notice where as we with of those three agitations of it faith, hope and love you catch that and what he’s doing is he showing us okay you may have those three to if they pop up and in various places in Scripture those together because there important and he he got a weaves them and here to help us think about the kind of ministry that we ought to have that the priestly ministry that we have that it ought to express these three faith, hope and love and you did you notice also that the first to start out vertical okay we we have faith that is the confidence to draw near to God see so it’s God were his vertical visas we also have the confession of our hope that hope is based on what you the promise of God, which itself is based on what the faithfulness of God CC it to is horizontal.  But then this third went lose out vertical and so you see what he says okay you to consider one another how you can stimulate each other to love and good deeds see so he he takes it from the vertical and lose it out Suzuki now you seek it ought to flow out toward each other.  So let’s explore this third expectation look again at verse 24 is and let us consider how to stimulate stimulate one another to love and good deeds.  And so our first main point will be this think deeply so you can promote churchwide ministry think deeply so you can promote churchwide ministry.  That’s verse 24 and he has three things that he says about that first point about how we do promote churchwide ministry first deep thinking is required he says consider the same word we saw back in three.  One it were to consider Jesus.  Now we are to consider one another that is to think deeply about each other.  Now some people suggest that you can divide humanity into two different groups.  There are thinkers and there are doers Scripture doesn’t do that chapter says for believers those two need to be in the same person’s own authority to be a thinking do are or a doing think I we we have to do both you you’re not going to do either one well one of them by itself is going to leave you in complete your ministry incomplete you have to have both you have to think, and then what you have thought you have to do and we are to do this thinking corporately that is as we’re interacting with each other as we discussed Scripture is weak the fellowship with one another.  We need to do this thinking corporately because were in a in a one another passage and 31 we were told to consider Jesus now were told to consider each other and we could look at this what the first vegetation and 31 think deeply on Jesus priestly ministry think deeply on Jesus priestly ministry and then now in our text think deeply on how to help your brother in his or her priestly ministry think deeply on how to help your brother or sister in his or her priestly ministry.  So the first thing he says about that is the thinking is required and now second he says deep thinking should be other center it’s not that self focused introspection he’s not talking about that you don’t need think about all my little problems and everything he’s is a we need to be thinking about others the deep thinking is about others first Jesus now one another in that deep thinking is to to stimulate the other this is it the job of only the pastors we do that we are responsible for doing is not just our job.  If you are believer in Jesus Christ.  It’s your job to your called on to stimulate your brothers and sisters in the flock
