Read and memorize Matthew 5:43-48
1. (a) Compare Matthew 5:43 with Leviticus 19:18, 34. How had the scribes and Pharisees changed God's original command to love their neighbors?
(b) Read Deuteronomy 10:17-19 and 23:3-7. What were God's instructions to the Israelites in regard to their enemies?
(c) What attitudes towards others had developed in the religious Jews? (See Mark 2:15-17, Luke 19:1-7, Acts 11:1-3)
2. Read Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 and give a 21st century version of it.
