1) Read John 17 out loud. (a) What elements of Jesus prayer are missing from your own prayer life?
(b) What are the words and phrases that are repeated and what is the significance of these?

3) Christ mentions that the disciples glorified Him in John 17:10. In what ways did the disciples bring glory to the Lord during His earthly ministry? Share some thoughts backed up with scripture.

(b) How do these verses help you to understand Christ's request for the eleven in John 17:11?
(c) In what practical ways can we strive to protect the unity in the body of Christ?
(d) Do others characterize you as a woman who gets along with others in the body of Christ? Are you causing divisions, stirring up strife, criticizing others, or leadership? These are serious sins that the Lord does not look lightly upon.
5) Jesus does not desire that the disciples be taken out of the world. (See John 17:15.) (a) Read the following passages and discover who prayed to be taken out of the world and why? Numbers 11:10-15

(b) What do these verses teach you about the desire to be taken out of the world?
(c) Why does Christ desire for us to be left in the world? See Eph. 2:10 and Titus 2:14.
6) What do you think Christ meant in John 17:19 "I sanctify myself?"
7) The disciples were sent out into the world for a purpose, a mission. (See John 17:18) (a) Do you know what your purpose or mission is in the world?
(b) Write it down in 20 words or less to share with your group.
8) Write out a prayer that includes petitions for someone else. Concentrate on asking God for their spiritual welfare, and try to avoid asking for physical needs. Be prepared to read them (or pray them) in class. These do not need to necessarily be lengthy. (The High Priestly prayer is only about 3 minutes long.)
